Terms of Use
The deal between you and Timelines, in plain words. By creating an account you agree to it. Last updated 2 November 2026.
Who we are
Timelines is made and run by Dare Industries LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. “We” and “us” on this page mean Dare Industries LLC.
What Timelines is
Timelines writes short first-person stories about the life you are choosing, reads them aloud, and gives you daily affirmations, reminders and a place to log what went right. The stories are written by an AI writer from the details you give it. They are for reflection and motivation, and they do not promise any outcome. The AI writer can get facts wrong, leave things out or be out of date, so check any fact in what it writes before you rely on it. Timelines is offered in most countries. A few are left out for now, where our AI provider doesn't operate, where there is armed conflict, or where local rules need more than we've set up so far.
Not medical advice
Timelines is not medical, mental-health, legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for professional care. Listen only when you can give it your full attention: never while driving, cycling, operating machinery or doing anything else that needs you alert. The sound beds use binaural beats, a steady pulsing audio. If you have epilepsy, a history of seizures or a sensitivity to rhythmic or flashing stimulation, talk to your doctor before using them, and stop listening if you feel unwell.
Your account
- You need to be 18 or older to use Timelines.
- Keep your password to yourself. What happens under your login is your responsibility.
- Give us a working email. That's where we reach you about your account, and an email we send there counts as telling you.
- You can delete your account at any time from You → Account. That removes your login and your data straight away, except the few records the privacy page lists (such as notes of refused requests, kept up to 90 days, or a year if we've reported them to the authorities, and payment records that stop one payment being claimed twice). Deleting cancels a plan bought on the website straight away, and the rest of that period isn't refunded. It doesn’t cancel a plan bought in the App Store or Google Play: cancel that in your phone’s subscription settings first.
Plans
- Writing new stories needs a plan, or refresh stories you already have. Listening to stories you already have stays free.
- A plan lets you write up to three new stories a day. A new day's three start at midnight where you are, and a day's unused stories don't carry over to the next day. Replays never count.
- If you subscribe, or buy a Story refresh, on the website, you pay through Stripe. Stripe's Link service is the seller of record for website purchases: your receipt says “Sold through Link”, your card statement shows LINK.COM* TIMELINES, and Link handles sales tax, payment disputes and payment questions under its own rules. Stripe bills you the price shown plus any sales tax, which the payment page shows before you pay. Prices are in US dollars. Plans are monthly or yearly. Cancel a website plan any time from You → Plans (Cancel plan, or Manage subscription), or from your Link receipt.
- If you subscribe, or buy a Story refresh, in the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google charges your store account the price shown plus any sales tax (outside the United States and Canada, the store's price already includes tax). Cancel a store plan in your phone’s subscription settings (You → Plans → Manage subscription takes you there). Apple can charge for the next period in the last 24 hours of the current one, so cancel an App Store plan at least a day before it ends. Apple decides refunds for App Store purchases: ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. For a Google Play purchase, ask Google Play first; if it sends you to us, write to us at hello@newtimelines.com and we decide.
- A Story refresh adds three more stories, kept until you use them. They're used after each day's three. Buying one needs an active plan. A refresh bought on the website isn't refunded, except where the law requires it, we got something wrong, or Link, as the seller of record, refunds you under its own rules. Refresh stories you’ve bought keep working if your plan ends. Refresh stories you haven't used go with your account if it is deleted or closed, and aren't refunded.
- Either way, plans renew on their own until you cancel, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, unless you delete your account first, we close it (see Using it fairly), or we stop offering Timelines (see The rest). For website and Google Play plans the unused part of a period isn't refunded, except where the law requires it, we got something wrong, or, for a website plan, Link, as the seller of record, refunds you under its own rules.
- If a payment for a website plan fails, new stories stop the next day while we try the card again for up to 3 weeks. If it goes through, new stories come back that day and your plan carries on as normal. If it doesn't, the plan ends and that payment isn't asked for again. For plans bought in the app, Apple or Google try again under their own rules.
- Prices can change. A new price for website plans applies to new sign-ups. If we ever raise the price of a plan you already have, we'll email you before it does, and you can cancel before then. Apple and Google tell you about changes to plans bought through them.
What you give us
Your timelines, your answers, the people you list and anything else you type stay yours. You give us permission to use them, and the stories written for you, to run Timelines for you (including sending the details the writer needs to the services that write and voice the stories), to keep it safe and fair (reviewing stories you report and requests the writer refused, and acting on accounts that break these terms), and to find and fix problems, as the privacy page sets out. We don’t sell them. The stories written for you are yours to keep and share. They're imagined scenes, not facts about you or anyone in them. The pictures shown with them come from our own library and can appear with other people's stories too. How we handle your information is set out on the privacy page.
What stays ours
The app and its design, the story pictures, the narration voices and the background music are ours or licensed to us. Enjoy them inside Timelines; don't copy, record or download them to use anywhere else.
Using it fairly
- Use Timelines for yourself. Don't resell it, scrape it, try to break it, or get around its limits.
- Only add people who'd be happy to be included, and leave out private things about them they wouldn't want shared.
- Don't ask for sexually explicit stories, anything that sexualizes someone under 18, or anything illegal, hateful, or meant to hurt or harass anyone, yourself included.
- A story that names someone is an imagined scene, not a fact about them. Don't share one in a way that could embarrass or hurt them.
- We may also turn down anything Anthropic, whose Claude model writes the stories, doesn't allow.
If an account breaks these rules, or keeps asking for things the writer refuses, we may pause or close it. Three refused story requests within 24 hours pause an account automatically until we review it; refusals on accounts that share one email inbox count together (see the privacy page). We look at every pause within seven days. While an account is paused, stories in your library still play, but nothing new can be made, and no Story refresh or new website plan can be bought. A pause doesn’t stop a plan you already have from renewing; you can cancel any time. If a pause turns out to be our mistake, we refund you for the time it lasted (Apple handles refunds for App Store plans, so for those we’ll help you ask Apple).
If we close an account, you can't sign in to it any more. We cancel any website plan on it straight away, and cancel a Google Play plan for you within two days. We can't cancel an App Store plan: cancel it in your iPhone's subscription settings, or it keeps renewing. We'll email you when we close an account, and say why. If we closed it because it broke these terms, we don't refund the rest of the period or refresh stories you haven't used. If closing it was our mistake, we reopen it and refund you for the time it was closed (for App Store plans, we'll help you ask Apple).
What we can't promise
We work to keep Timelines running and improving, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. Stories can be imperfect (see What Timelines is), voices can hiccup, and the app can be down for maintenance. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including any implied promise that Timelines is of a certain quality, fit for a particular purpose, or always available.
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of $50 or what you paid for Timelines (to us, Link, Apple or Google) in the 12 months before the problem. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, or for anything else the law doesn’t let us limit.
Settling disputes
Tell us first. Write to hello@newtimelines.com with what happened and what you'd like, and we'll reply within 14 days. If we can't sort it out within 60 days, you and Dare Industries LLC agree to settle it by individual arbitration under the American Arbitration Association's Consumer Arbitration Rules, not in court, and not as part of a class or group case. The arbitration happens by phone or video, or in the county where you live. The arbitrator can give you any individual relief a court could. We pay the arbitration fees beyond what you'd pay to file in court. Either of us can use small-claims court instead. A request for a public injunction, where the law allows one, goes to court once the arbitration ends. You can opt out within 30 days of agreeing to these terms by emailing “opt out” to hello@newtimelines.com from your account's email. If the ban on class and group cases can't be enforced for a claim, this section doesn't apply to it, and that claim goes to court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. If you live somewhere whose law doesn't allow consumers to be bound to arbitration, this section doesn't apply to you.
The rest
- If one part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we stop offering Timelines, we'll email you at least 30 days before, and Timelines works as usual until then, refresh stories included.
- If another company takes over Timelines, these terms and the promises on the privacy page go with it.
Changes and the law
If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States. If you live somewhere whose consumer-protection laws give you rights these terms can't take away, you keep those rights. If you got Timelines from the App Store, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app. It is the licence for the app itself; these terms cover your account, your plans and your stories. Where the two disagree about the app itself, Apple's licence applies. Background music: “Heart Alignment”, composed by Music Of Wisdom, licensed from meditationmusiclibrary.com.
